Description

Introduction

This CAT6A Shielded Coupler is a compact, in-line RJ45 female-to-female adapter designed to join two shielded (STP/FTP) Category 6A patch cables while preserving the cable shield continuity and delivering full Cat6A performance. It provides a fast, tool-free way to extend runs, create temporary connections, or convert cable routing direction without sacrificing 10 Gigabit Ethernet throughput or alien crosstalk immunity. Ideal for data centres, office cabling, AV installations, and any environment requiring high-bandwidth, low-noise connectivity where electromagnetic interference (EMI) rejection is important.

Key Benefits

  • Preserves shield continuity for superior EMI/RFI protection
  • Supports 10GBASE-T up to 100 m when used in a compliant Cat6A channel
  • Compact, low-profile design for tight spaces and patch panels
  • Tool-free mating — rapid field use and easy reconfiguration
  • Rugged metal housing for mechanical durability and grounding

Specifications

Standards & Performance

  • Category: Category 6A (Cat6A) shielded
  • Ethernet support: 10GBASE-T, 5G/2.5G/1G/100BASE-T
  • Frequency: up to 500 MHz
  • Channel compliance: Meets TIA-568.2-D and ISO/IEC 11801 requirements for Cat6A when used with compliant cables and connectors
  • NEXT / Return Loss: Designed to meet Cat6A return loss and NEXT limits (channel performance depends on attached cables and terminations)
  • Shielding performance: Continuity maintained across coupler; effective against EMI/RFI when properly grounded

Mechanical

  • Connector type: (2) RJ45 shielded female sockets (8P8C)
  • Housing: Zinc die-cast / nickel-plated metal housing (provides mechanical strength & shielding)
  • Contact plating: Phosphor bronze contacts with gold plating (min. 50 µin typical) on contact surfaces
  • Grounding: Integrated shield-to-shield contact; grounding tab/strap option for chassis or earth bonding
  • Mating cycles: ≥ 750 insertion/removal cycles (typical)
  • Dimensions: compact inline form factor — typical ~ 30–45 mm length (model dependent)
  • Weight: lightweight, model dependent

Environmental

  • Operating temperature: -20°C to +70°C
  • Storage temperature: -40°C to +85°C
  • Relative humidity: 10%–95% non-condensing

Compatibility

  • Works with shielded (STP/FTP) Cat6A, Cat6 and Cat5e shielded patch cables
  • Not recommended for use with unshielded (UTP) cables if maintaining shield continuity is required

Installation Notes

  • Ensure both attached patch cables have their shields properly terminated and that the coupler’s housing contacts the cable shield to maintain continuous grounding.
  • For critical permanent links, use certified field testing after installation to verify channel compliance (return loss, NEXT, insertion loss, etc.).
  • Avoid excessive bending or torque on connected cables to prevent contact damage.

Packaging & Options

  • Pack quantities: Individual Coupler with polybag, box Qty: 50pcs
